Claudia B. Sangster, JD
Trustee and Chair

Claudia is Senior Vice President and the Director of Family Education and Governance in Wealth Management at the Northern Trust Company. In this role she designs the firm's advisory capabilities in financial education, family decision-making, and relationships around money and wealth. With over 25 years of experience, Claudia works with families to create their legacy of wisdom, wealth and giving through multiple generations.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Claudia was with CTC | myCFO, where she served as the Director of Philanthropy, Estate and Trust Services. She was also instrumental in establishing the Harris myCFO Foundation, and its successor, the BMO Charitable Fund Program.

Claudia earned a Bachelor's degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Pepperdine University, and a JD, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Houston, College of Law. She is a Founding Partner of Social Venture Partners in Los Angeles, current member of the Board of the Associated Women for Pepperdine, current board member of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute of Los Angeles, Advisory Board member of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center.

 

 

Daniel T. Stetson
Trustee and Executive Director

Dan is the Executive Director and a trustee of the Nicholas Endowment. In these roles, Dan works to provide support to the charitable organizations that exemplify its mission and vision.

Dan also currently serves as the Secretary of the Community Engagement Panel for the decommissioning of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. This panel was convened by Southern California Edison to serve as a conduit for public information and community involvement.

Dan served as President and CEO of the Ocean Institute from 2005-2015, after having joined the Institute in 1992. Immediately prior to his tenure at the Ocean Institute, Dan consulted for the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro representing a foreign shipping company involved in an oil spill incident. Dan managed the compensation process for over 2,000 claimants from the largest oil spill in the LA Harborís history.

Dan earned a BA from UC Santa Barbara and a MBA from California State University, Fullerton. Together with Roxanne, his wife of 30 years, Dan is an avid diver, sailor and tennis player.

 

  Paula Tomei
Trustee

Paula Tomei (Managing Director) is responsible for the overall administration of SCR and has been managing director since 1994. A member of the SCR staff since 1979, she has served in a number of administrative capacities, including subscriptions manager, business manager and general manager. She was the president of the board of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national service organization for theatre, and served two terms as a board member. She has also served as treasurer of TCG, vice president of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT) and has been a member of the LORT Negotiating Committee for industry-wide union agreements. In addition, she represents SCR at national conferences of TCG and LORT; is a theatre panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the California Arts Council; site visitor for the NEA; and has been a guest lecturer in the graduate school of business at Stanford and UC Irvine. She is on the board of Arts Orange County, the county-wide arts council, and the board of the Nicholas Endowment. Tomei graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in economics and pursued an additional course of study in theatre and dance. She also teaches a graduate class in nonprofit management at UC Irvine.

 

 

Robert Feller
Trustee, Chairman of the Investment Committee

Robert Feller is a Managing Director at Ocean Peak Capital, an event-driven hedge fund specializing in distressed investing. Prior to Ocean Peak, Mr. Feller was a Senior Vice President of Crescent Capital Group, a leading alternative credit investment management firm. Previously, Mr. Feller was Senior Vice President for James Alpha Management, a New York based family office after serving as Director of Business Development for Armored Wolf, LLC, a global macro hedge fund that James Alpha seeded.

Previously, Mr. Feller spent 12 years with the Hartford/Wellington Mutual Funds culminating in the role of Divisional Manager, Western US. During his tenure, the Hartford Mutual Funds were recognized as the fastest growing non-proprietary fund company to reach $50 billion in assets under management.

Mr. Feller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a Registered Securities Principal.
